Shout Out to the Girls!

I was thrilled to do two portraits for the new book by Penguin, Shout Out to the Girls! A Celebration of Awesome Australian Women.

Jess Gallagher is the first and only Australian athlete (Olympic or Paralympic) to win both Summer and Winter Paralympic medals, and has represented Australia in 3 sports. alpine skiing, athletics and most recently track cycling. Jess is a fully qualified Osteopath, Board Director at Vision 2020 Australia and an ambassador for a number of not-for-profit organisations. Oh, and she’s been inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women 2018. Go Jess!

In April 2016, Jade Hameister became the youngest person in history to ski to the North Pole from anywhere outside the Last Degree. That year she was recognised by Australian Geographic Society as Young Adventurer of the Year. Jade was also the youngest woman ever to complete the 550km traverse of the Greenland icecap, unassisted. In 2018 Jade completed her Polar Hat Trick and became the youngest person to ski coast to South Pole unassisted.

Jade is passionate about shifting the focus for young women from how they appear to the possibilities of what they can do and also about raising awareness about the impact of climate change.
